The Carey Special Fly of the week: The Carey Special
We have decided to include a variety of still water flies primarily because of the extreme spring run-off. The Carey Special is a typical and very productive still water fly. There is something about bugs tied with peacock that seem to really attract fish. Prince Nymphs, Zugbugs, Pheasant Tails and the like all seem to work better than other wet patterns. It’s possible that fish mistake this fly for a dragonfly, damsel nymph or possibly a lake dwelling caddis. Regardless, this pattern will definitely boost your catch ratios and is a simple pleasure to tie.
