The Zug Bug Fly of the week: The Zug Bug
Years ago, as a young fly angler, I headed for Clear Lake. It was winter and I had only fished this new float tube one time before. I entered the lake at the same time with an aged angler. We started talking as we paddled our way out to the spillway. He let his line out, as did I. Before my line was even extended, he had a fish on. Then another and another, before the spillway he had on 8 nice trout, I had none. What the heck are you using, I yelled. A Zug Bug son was his response. I have fished a lot of still water flies, none as effectively as this little fly was that day and many since. You owe it to yourself to try this fly on your next excursion. With the water in the rivers as high as it is, your next trip could be to a still water. Take the mighty Zug Bug along.
