Trico Spinner Late summer many streams in our area are host to the tricorythodes which in short" tricos". This tiny fly size 26-28, so get you bi-focals out, hatches in the morning or around midday. These flies are unusually small and they have no hind wings like most mayflies yet they are a part of the Mayfly family. Fished top water for best results.
Hook: Midge or standard dry fly, sizes 26 to 20 (shown is a Dai-Riki 310).
Thread: Brown 8/0.
Tail: White or ginger hackle fibers.
Abdomen: Olive dubbing.
Wing: White poly yarn.
Thorax: Brown dubbing. |
