We left for the Owyhee river late Friday evening and set up camp as soon as we got there. We woke up Saturday morning with fingers crossed and high hopes that we'd find a good fishing spot. Success! We fished all day Saturday and caught us some beautiful Browns with the occasional Rainbow in between. After our long day of fishing we relaxed by the water and waited for the sun to set bellow the mountains then decided to soak our cold bones in Sinvely hotspring. We met our friends down there and exchanged all our fishing stories. The next day came too fast but we woke up again with our fingers crossed. We met our friends in our secret fishing spot and fished the day away yet again. Monday morning was here and after packing up we went back to our spot and met our friends again. We decided to work our way up to an awesome riffle to see if we could catch even more fish than the days before. We tied on some nymphs and fished some deeper holes where we ended up catching a plethora of fish. I had a rough patch where I lost a few but carried on, determined to land as many as Jake and at the end of the day it was a success. All in all we all agreed this was the best fishing trip we've had yet. This was Jacobs first trip EVER to the Owyhee and says it will be a trip to remember.
Idaho Unknown: Their trip started at 6:00 A.M. in the morning when they headed out from the Caldwell shop. 98 miles later and a few rough patches they arrive at confluence few people have visited. Dropping down into the canyon is slow moving, but it adds to the anticipation. The main tributary they first drove [...]
Wayne Johnson decided to take the day off the other day and fish with his favorite fishing partner of twenty five years, Ben. The memories that he has created within Wayne will last a lifetime and will always put a smile on his face. From Halibut fishing when he was five, to his first grizzly [...]
Wow! Get to Stanley guys. Steelhead fishing is amazing. We got up at 4:30 am to get to our spot so we could start fishing as soon as the sun came up. Let me tell you, it was super cold but so worth it! We started with the BH Shagadelic stone nymph with a Clouser [...]
Wayne made a three hour drive to Stanley on Saturday at about 4 pm. Not wasting any time he drove directly to his favorite spot. Withing a few cast a nice whitefish was landed and he doesn't mind a white fish or two but that was not what he was hoping for. Moving to another [...]
Fly fishing on the Big wood River was amazing this past weekend. We fished just north of Hailey, ID. The weather was perfect all weekend long with no wind. I recommend a yellow stone fly nymph or the black rubber leg with a flash bang midge dropper. We got on the water late morning around [...]
Fly fishing on the South Fork of the Boise has been great for some of our friends. They started with some nymphs and streamers and switched out for some BWO's as the day carried on. They both caught their fair share of fish and enjoyed some good food and beer around the campfire as the day came to an end.
Jason Everman and his son Jude went fishing on the Owyhee the other day. The weather was overcast but warm. They started fishing around noon and had a great day of dry fly fishing with blue wing olives. They landed 10 nice 18-24" browns on dries! Way to go guys! When the dry fly fishing slowed later in the [...]
Dave Herman, one of our local fly fisherman, was on the South Fork of the Boise this Saturday with Greg Bocox. It was a little more windy than they had expected but they say it was well worth the trip. They started off the day Nymphing. Dave was able to land a beautiful Rainbow with a Double Beaded Prince [...]
